Fairly Awful Wages

DESCRIPTION

When I meet people in their 60s or 70s working low- or minimum-wage jobs I sometimes strike up a conversation to find out why they’re doing that. Often it’s not because they’re in dire need of money and they can’t find a better gig; it’s because working makes them feel useful, and a low wage often equates with low stress. One lady told me, “It’s fairly awful wages but I enjoy it.”
