From $150
Australia’s paddle ball craze of the Seventies saw milk bars flogging endless Dingbat and Skyball paddles sponsored by youth-hungry brands like Coke and Streets. School playgrounds reverberated with the sound of bouncing rubber balls (and the crack of colliding hard balls from the simultaneous Clackers craze). Improbably, schools organised brand-sponsored demonstrations of paddle ball tricks by grown men in suits who claimed to be paddle ball champions. One of these men adorns the “Addled Paddle”, albeit with my face covering his.
